On October 4, in an early morning automobile accident, five teenagers were killed near the 5 and 133 Freeway interchange. The teenagers were traveling on the 5 Freeway when the 1995 BMW they were in veered off the freeway and burst into flames. The teens were returning from Knott’s Scary Farm, a Halloween event at Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park. Covina Police Officer Jordan Corder, 28, was killed in a collision with an SUV on Citrus Avenue at Puente Street. Corder was thrown from his motorcycle when he collided with a Honda CRV as it was making a left turn. Corder was transported to Citrus Valley Medical Center, Inter-Community Campus where he later died. The 75-year-old woman driving the SUV was transported to the same hospital.
